My brother has received his Christmas gift so I can finally share. When I saw there was Cubs Christmas fabric at @joann_stores, I knew I had to make him something. One Christmas gift done, I don’t even know how many more to go! My kids often have days at school where they can bring a small pillow and read or watch movies and we don’t really have small pillows. But now they will! I used the pattern from @fwfabricstudio and some Pokémon fat quarters I’ve been hoarding from @caliquiltco and made this cute little book pillow for one of my kids. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. I admit to not having any familiarity with Anthony Bourdain prior to reading this book. I’ve never seen his show nor read his books. After his death a few friends posted long appreciations of him on social media so I added a couple books to my queue. I enjoyed parts of this book. It was definitely interesting and eye-opening but a lot of it wasn’t super relatable for me. I am not a foodie and I have zero familiarity with the New York restaurant scene, so a fair amount of the book that seemed to assume the reader knows those chefs and restaurants was lost on me. Most of the dishes he mentions aren’t things I’ve ever come across and I was thankful to be reading on my kindle because I was constantly looking things up. That said, I did enjoy the book and I could appreciate his passion for food and cooking, his candid storytelling and his gritty, honest experiences. The writing was vivid and well crafted but I felt like It dragged in some places when it got into details about specific kitchens or chefs and I felt like I might have been more interested if I had any point of reference for those stories. 4/5 stars ⭐️ #18readingchallenge #justjoshinreads #2018readingchallenge #goodreads #readersofinstagram #readersofig #booksofinstagram

If you’ve followed me for any amount of time you know I am a huge procrastinator. So of course I hadn’t started Christmas shirts for my kids and we are going to see the big man in the red suit in about an hour and a half. So I guess I finished early! I put together both designs from clip art and I can’t take any credit for the chemis-tree pun, I googled “science Christmas” and found the phrase but I made the cut file from @nounproject clip art. Godzilla is similarly cobbled together with clip art I found online. But these shirts could not be more perfect for my duo.
