This past week, Grandma was in town playing with the boys so I had lots of free time to sew. I finished quite a few unfinished projects and got all caught up with my etsy orders. I finished a quilt I had started months ago, sometime way back in the summer. When I posted a photo of it to my friends on Facebook, someone I have known since High School commented that she was in want of a baby gift, and loved the quilt. Unfortunately, upon checking in with the expectant parents, the colors and theme (Pink/Green/Brown with Owls.) was all wrong for their nursery. Their little girl’s room was to be done in blues and light greens, with an under-the-sea theme. My friend asked if I could do that, and I said of course I can!
I have loved this every step of the way, from picking out fun blue and green fabrics with a sea vibe, to seeing it all go together. There are a total of eight appliqué sea creatures and I just can’t pick a favorite, they are all so cute. The back is all the multi-dots like the binding, which bright and colorful and ties all the other colors together.
It is not often that I am sad to see my creations head off to the post office, but this one is definitely tough to say goodbye. This design gave me so many ideas, I can’t wait to do more quilts in different themes like trucks or animals or princesses. The possibilities are endless!
I am looking for quilt patterns to make my son some nursery bedding… Where did you find this pattern?… Love it!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Here is a page with the closest pattern I could find to that quilt pattern. http://www.patchworks.com/patterns.htm
(It’s a four-patch baby quilt.)
I added the sea creatures with an embroidery machine on the large blocks before assembling.
